Tiffany is an advocate for victims of sexual assault and discrimination. She trains organizations on implicit bias, being trauma informed, and social justice. She speaks on her journey as a sexual assault survivor, and a first generation Latina working in the legal field.
Tiffany dedicates her advocacy to creating a positive impact on our governmental structures. She helps asses the structures your organization has in place. The ultimate goal is to assure humans are treated like humans. Creating structures rooted in love.
Tiffany Avila was born and raised in Oxnard, California. She started working at the age of 14 to help her family financially. Tiffany’s father had a third grade education, and her mother a high school education. Tiffany is a first-generation college and law school graduate. She received her B.A. in Political Sciences with a minor in Professional Writings and Chicano Studies from U.C. Davis. After receiving her degree, Tiffany worked as a Victim Services Program Assistant for the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office and later as a Victim Advocate for the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office. After serving in these roles, she knew getting a law degree was the next step. Knowledge of our country’s laws was the tool she needed to make a difference. Tiffany graduated from Golden Gate University School of Law with a specialization in Litigation, Family Law, and Public Interest Law. Tiffany co-founded the Golden Gate University Race, Gender, Sexuality, & Social Justice Law Journal to help create a bridge for more diverse voices in the law review space. Tiffany has always aspired to create and promote diversity in professional spaces. Her ultimate goal is to make an impact in how we restructure governmental systems that serve predominantly people of color but are not currently adequately serving them. Most recently Tiffany has served as an investigator of discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation claims.
As an advocate and discrimination expert, Tiffany can bring forth knowledge to your event through workshops or as a public speaker. Contact Tiffany today to design a workshop or presentation that fits the needs of your event. Available in person or via zoom.
What is Implicit Bias? It’s created through a lack of self awareness. Have you ever walked down the street and automatically created a judgement as to how safe or how intelligent or how cool someone may be based off their appearance? Have you ever assumed wrong? Learn to become self aware. Learn to check your privilege. Don't know how or where to start? We can help.
Are you able to identify when someone is in crisis? Can you tell when you need to be softer towards a person? Are you creative in how you respond to folks in crisis. One way to make a big difference in the community is to train your employees to be trauma informed.
Join Tiffany in breaking down the barriers and challenges life handed to her in order to help her grow and provide lessons for her future. A very raw and possibly triggering event where you dive deep into your fears and move past what is holding you back. This is an opportunity to go deep into who you are and what your purpose is.
